After a very timid and uncertain start last week, Katie did great in gymnastics tonight. I met Julie and Katie after work and found Katie to be the only kid in the room. She was running all over mats and having the time of her life. She stopped immediately once Miss Corrie came in, and Katie clung to us tightly. After a few minutes, the parents left and the kids started to gather on the mat. Katie clung to us as we left and didn't want to let go of the door. As soon as her teacher called her over though, all of Katie's hesitation left and she became a confident 2-year-old ready to make the class her own.
We occasionally watched her through the door's window and she was marching and skipping along with the rest of the class. She learned to lay on her back and do bicycle kicks in the air, and finally, her first somersaults! The change from last week was incredible, and we were so proud of her.
Good job, Katie. We can't wait to see how you do next week!
