Over the past few years we’ve found October to be a great time to visit Disneyland. Fall and Halloween decorations up, but the parks aren’t quite as busy as they are during Christmas. After changing dates due to some illness, we finally had a chance to go.
Julie and Katie took a great picture on Dumbo…
…and Katie became a quick fan of the carousel. We had to ride twice!
While Julie held our spot in line to meet Mickey, Katie ran all over Toontown. She learned to climb the steps to Goofy’s porch without crawling or hanging onto anything, she slid down the slide in Toon Park, and walked with one foot on each side of the trolley tracks.
“Hey, Mickey! Where’d you go??”
We enjoy eating at Whitewater Cafe in the Grand Californian. The food is very good, and the location is quiet and out of the way. The outdoor patio looks out onto the Grizzly River Rapids area of DCA. The tall pine trees and soothing area music make that one of our favorite places at the resort.
Meal time with Katie has been a real chore lately. She’s become very picky about what she eats, and is very vocal about making her dissatisfaction known. Chicken strips, which are usually a home run, weren’t going to find their way into Katie’s belly for anything. However, we were very happy to see that a new friend came up to the window and joined us for lunch. This beautiful girl had no problem eating Katie’s chicken strips for her. :)
Katie loves playing in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. I was curious to see how she would do on the cargo nets. She did great! Only twice did a foot fall through, and only once did a shoe come off. A few small tumbles here and there kept her honest. I was very pleased with how well her balance has progressed in the last month or two. I held onto her hand most of the time, but other times she wanted to be on her own. This included the nets at the top level – about 50 feet up. She has no fear of heights so far.
Over in DCA, construction for World of Color is moving at a frantic pace. The amount of hardware in the bay is stunning. The bay should be refilled shortly, and the show is scheduled to open Spring of 2010.
