Farewell to 2009!

2009 has been a very difficult year for the three of us.  The loss of our pets, multiple health issues, salary reduction, the learning curve of Katie’s food allergies presented us with problems almost from day one.

God’s blessings of the year are not lost on us, they just seemed to be muddled among more stressors that usual all year.

Needless to say, we are very optimistic about 2010 and wish you and your family a very Happy New Year!

Christmas Cookie Decorating

Laura and Ryan invited all of us over to their place for some good, ol’ fashioned Christmas cookie decorating. Somewhat a tradition for all of us, it’s a ton of fun, really messy, but something we all look forward to. The cookie dough and Stacy’s awesome icing were homemade – ensuring a soy-free experience for Katie. Thanks, everyone, for the extra effort to make that possible!

“Is this how you do it?”"

“I see something yummy over there!”

Katie watched a lot, participated a lot, and made a huge mess. :)

“Thanks, mama, for all of your wonderful help.”

Lots of help from Laura and Melissa.

After a while, Katie thought it would be fun to stuff the dough into the cookie cutter.

The fun (and the mess) really took off when we started decorating.

Katie was so proud of herself for stacking the sprinkles.

Melissa helped Abbie use the frosting.

And soon it was time to feed mama the spice drops.

One last cookie before going home.

All in all the night went very well. Thank you, Laura and Ryan for inviting everyone, and for putting up with the mess. This was Katie’s first late night out (we stayed until 10:30), and she did great! Both Abbie and Katie were having so much fun that they didn’t even think about how tired they must have been. I can’t wait to do it again next year. Merry Christmas!
